Drama 2021
This year in Drama, students have explored a range of performance styles including Epic Theatre, Musical Theatre, Commedia Dell’arte, Theatre of Cruelty and many more.
Our senior students have worked tirelessly developing an ensemble performance based on four very different characters who are given thirty days to live. In Year 8, students developed a range of character types and performed scenes from Caryl Churchill’s ‘Love and Information’. Our Year 9 and 10 students experimented with the elements of Greek Theatre and Melodrama.
While this year has been a challenging year for students in Drama, they have all demonstrated a positive attitude towards their learning and created a breadth of digital work demonstrating their performance skills.
Senior Drama - Character Development and Theatre Styles
Students developed characters in line with Epic Theatre, Greek Theatre and Musical Theatre. Students devised their own play titled '30 days' which focuses on the experiences of four key characters after being told they only have 30 days to live.
Here are some videos of their play in the development stage.
These videos were recorded during a time when masks weren't required and the performances were only in the development stage.
Theatre Styles - Presentations
Students researched a range of Theatre Styles and Practitioners and presented their finding to their peers. Students also designed class workshops that focused on applying each practitioner's methods for acting and performance.
Please take a look through some of their work below.
