Critical and creative design thinking and adapting to the needs of a target audience is a consistent theme of this subject, some remote learning throughout Semester 1 providing the inadvertent conditions for these themes to be thoroughly explored.
The humble graphite pencil and paper has been the hero for many students studying this subject at a senior level, other stationary staples such as a ruler, fineliner and coloured pencils also playing supporting roles in fulfilling design needs and creating imagery to communicate meaning. Many students are becoming more skilled in using digital technologies and applications to produce not only final presentations but also as part of the design process when generating and researching ideas.
Our senior Year 10 students have demonstrated an understanding of the design elements and principles that underpin the production of all design, exploring a range of media, methods and materials throughout this process. In addition, they have generated ideas for a range of design briefs, including a visual identity in the form of a logo, a space museum design in two-point perspective, and a watch design using technical drawing conventions.
