Mountain Gate Primary School - Art 2021

Foundation to Grade 2 classes explored how shape can create form through many different explorations. From drawing simple shapes to tracing around objects, the students used their imaginations to build creatures and characters while being encouraged to bring their own flair to the work.

Grades 3 and 4 considered different ways of creating texture in their work and the effect of colour contrast. Monochromatic furry bears wearing vibrant jumpers, textured trees with different skies in sections of the branches and colourful fish using a paper scaling technique were all brought to life with students including their own ideas within the works.

Grades 5 and 6 were able to create fantastic geometric drawings of a subject of their choice and it was wonderful to see students challenge themselves with those choices. Students trialled different ways of presenting their chosen subject and then brainstormed the most effective colour palette for their work.
