Ferntree Gully North Primary School - Art 2021

Students at Ferntree Gully North were fortunate enough to be able to create some wonderful art pieces before Covid lockdowns and restrictions kept us from our Art room.

Our Prep to Year 2 cohort created pinch pots and painted them with their own designs. They explored Kandinsky as an artist and created trees inspired from his dot painting.

The Year 3 and 4 students explored Indigenous art during NAIDOC week and expressed the way they connect to country. They painted colours that represent their favourite places in Australia. Students investigated the use of symbols and designed their own symbols to share the story of their special places.

Students also used chalk pastel to make abstract poppies as part of listening to the stories of our ANZACs.

The artistic work of Kandinsky was explored and students created their own textured paper.

Students created letter plaques from clay and learnt about joining techniques and bisque firing in our kiln.

Year 5 and 6 students created their own Picasso inspired portraits, trying to focus on including expression and emotion in their piece. They also developed their oil pastel blending skills by drawing still life donuts and of course eating them afterwards!
